The Herschel Little America Back and Why It's Become an Iconic Staple

One thing we do great here at Herschel is utilising versatility when designing a product. Since the release of the Little America backpack in 2010, the popularity has risen and fast saw it become a favourite for everyday wear, while also becoming the most recognisable of all Herschel products.

Along with 60 other designs from our Classics line, the Little America has been redesigned. Experimenting with products derived from plants, as well as recycled materials, our Classics line will be made using EcoSystem™ 600D Fabric and Liner, which is created from 100% recycled post-consumer water bottles.

The EcoSystem™ fabric offers durability and longevity, so you’re able to get a lot of uses out of your backpack, while also making cleaning your backpack easy.

Aesthetically still drawing inspiration from mountaineering, the retro aesthetics of the Little America backpack haven’t changed. The drawstring feature of the main compartment offers extra security and easy access, along with the magnet fastened buckle straps. Also using the magnet fastened buckle straps, small essentials will stay safe and secure in the front pocket.

Lined with synthetic fleece, the laptop and device sleeve inside is found inside the main compartment. However, we have since added a zipper down the side for quick and easy access to your laptop or device.

Another new feature to the backpack is the hidden pocked in the top lid. Using the entire lid space, the pocket is accessible via a zip above the shoulder straps, with a key clip inside. We have also added pocket on each side for you to easily store and secure your water bottle or

reusable cup/bottle.

The base of the backpack is sturdy enough that it can stand upright, while being comfortable and not too bulky to wear. So, anything that may be sitting in the bottom will remain in place and protected. With adjustable EVA padded shoulder straps, you can carry your belongings with ease with extra support offered by the added sternum strap.

2 sizes are available:

- 21L (H43cm x W28cm x D14cm)

- 30L (H49cm x W29cm x D18cm)

With both sizes comfortably and securely fitting 15” and 16” laptops.

While bags are used for different purposes, it’s important to know if the Little America will be suited to you and your needs. For those wanting a new backpack for work, we recommend assessing both sizes according to your work needs. Comfortably fitting in a laptop at the above specs, also add in work essentials like work manuals, notebooks, tech devices and a lunchbox – all with room to spare. If you’ve got plans for after work, such as heading to the gym or meeting up with friends, you can easily pack in a change of clothes and shoes.
